Intro

Image with Bleed is a Windows tool that lets you add print bleed to images that you intend to print. Some included features are:

  1. Choose your bleed size - from 0.0" to 1.0" to match printer or print shop requirements.
  2. 300 DPI Output - ensure sharp prints by using industry standard 300 dots per inch.
  3. Define your final output size - tailor the final image to scaled or custom dimensions.
  4. Can load PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WEBP images
  5. Can save final image as PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WEBP
  6. Choose exact print size or the exact pixel size that you need.

What is Print Bleed?

When printing an image, you usually don't want to print using the final image size. So for example, if you wanted a 4"x4" print of an image, you wouldn't print exactly at 4"x4" because when you cut the image you'll either risk cutting too short (less than 4") or cutting too long and having a strip of white along the edge of the print. To avoid the white strip, the image is printed larger than normal, so when it is cut you have color exactly to the edge.

Image will Bleed will take an image like the one of the left, and add print bleed along the edge, so when it is cut, you are guaranteed to have seemless color all the way around.

Image with Bleed will also add crop marks indicating where the image should be cut. This means no white borders and no cut-off edges in your final print.

How to Use Image with Bleed

First the application is opened. The user selects a file or drag+drops a file into the application.

Select or Drag and Drop Image to Add Print Bleed

Add Print Bleed to Outside of Image or Within Set Boundaries

After choosing the image you will have two options.

You can choose the final image size in inches

You can choose the final image size in inches and the amount of bleed you want. For example, you could say you want the final print to be 9"x12" with 0.25" of bleed.

Add Print Bleed to Outside of Image

This would be appropriate if you are sending a file to a print shop. You can tell them the final cut size is 9"x12" and that the image has 0.25" of bleed and that the image is 300 dots per inch. After making your selection, you can click "Download Image" and you can choose where to the save. After saving, you can open the file to preview it.

You can choose the final image size in pixels

You can choose the final image size in pixels and the amount of bleed you need. For example, the printer may require you to make an image that is 2790x2790 pixels at 300 dots per inch and add a quarter inch bleed within that exact image size.

Add Print Bleed Within image Boundaries

After you've chosen the correct options, you can click "Download Image" and you can choose where to save. After saving, you can open the file to preview it.
